Week 29

Catching up…. Weeks have been flying by so I am behind in updating the babies progress.  I had a bad case of laryngitis and a sinus infection that set me back a lot and just wore me out. This baby is really sucking the health out of me!

This week my sister and I had a shower together with our family. It was great to see everyone and celebrate the upcoming arrival of our babies!

Here are some pictures from our shower… ( My sister is due March 19th, so I am 8 weeks behind her!).

Week 27

27 weeks pregnant, and only 13 weeks left!! 🙂 Very exciting for us! Sometimes we can’t believe that we only have 13 weeks left, and other times we feel like 13 weeks is so far away!

Here is what is going on with the baby this week:

“This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like the head of a cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes and perhaps even sucking her fingers . With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don’t bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.”

I have definitely been feeling the thumps and kicks from our baby. Last night the baby got the hiccups and Matt and I were able to feel and even see my stomach moving from them! Fun stuff!

Here are the 27 week pictures:

Week 26

Week 26 came and went and we realized we didn’t take a picture of this week! I did have a picture taken with my sister at my aunt’s 50th birthday party, so I will include that.

The baby is the size of a hothouse English Cucumber, so as you can imagine- I’m getting big!! 🙂

My sister, Jenny is also pregnant and due March 19th, 8 weeks before me!

Week 25

I’m getting behind here, but I have to mention week 25! This week the baby is the size of a n eggplant. I didn’t go and get one this week because I really just forgot!

Here is what is going on with the baby this week:

“Head to heels, your baby now measures 13 1.2 inches Her weight — a pound and a half — isn’t much more than an average rutabaga, but she’s beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she’ll start to look more like a newborn. She’s also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you’d now be able to discern its color and texture.”

Here are pictures we took… The bump has definitely popped and it is crazy! Matt also made an appearance, and after we looked at the life size baby on the Ipad- it is all becoming a reality!! 🙂

Week 24

Week 24 is here (and technically gone!) The baby is the length of a corn!!!

Here is what’s going on this week:

“Your baby’s growing steadily,  having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn) he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally  and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.”

I have to be honest, the pictures are really lame this week. It was late Sunday night and I realized that I should have done this days ago!! So I grabbed Matt and we took some quick pics after I had painted trim in the baby’s room and right before going to bed. So, here are the pictures. The bump is really noticeable this week!!

The nursery is in progress!

This weekend my mom and sister, Laura came to help paint the baby’s room. The room before was a giraffe, palm tree, turtle, butterfly scene. Very cute, but not my thing.  We primed the room and we could still see all the characters, so I had to run out and buy high hiding primer- which did the trick!

We then painted the room a light blue, almost robin’s egg blue and we did an accent wall with stripes. I am happy with the way that it turned out. Check out the before and after pictures-

We also put the crib together. I know it may be early, but I’m a planner and while I am feeling good want to get as much done as I can! 🙂 Here is one last picture with the crib-

Week 23

Week 23:

I think I say this every week, but the weeks are flying by, and the bump is getting bigger by the day- it all makes it so much more real! The baby is the size of a papaya, and here is the progress on what’s new with the baby-

“Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance, And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze her when she hears them outside the womb.”

This week we went to the doctor, and everything looks good! the heartbeat is 140 bpm, and I’m still feeling pretty good… can’t complain!

We painted the baby’s room this weekend, so the background for the pictures is new! Here are pictures from this week (I feel like Matt hasn’t been in many pictures lately but he wanted to stay behind the camera again this week!):
