Week 38- getting closer!!

Well one thing we know for sure, in less than three weeks our baby will be here!!
We are so excited, we can’t wait to meet our little one! At the doctor today I am still only 2 cm dilated and 70% effected, so I still have time. The doctor is a little concerned that I haven’t gained weight or grown in the past few weeks, so we are off to another ultrasound later in the week to make sure that the baby is still growing and is OK.

I have been feeling pretty good so far. In fact, I wish that I was getting more uncomfortable, so that it would mean that labor was closer!! 🙂

Here are some pictures of this week:

And here are a few pictures of the nursery- pretty much done- just waiting for a baby to occupy it! 🙂

Week 37

Week 37- Is here! The baby is considered full term now, the car seat is installed, the hospital bag is packed, the baby’s room and monitor are set and ready to go! The only thing we need now, is our baby to come!!!!!

At my last appointment, I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced so at least we are making progress!

I am still trying to get at least a 2-3 mile walk in every day, and am feeling pretty good. This past week I started to feel a little uncomfortable, but only time will tell when this baby is coming!

Here are pictures from this week. I took them after we got back from a walk.

Week 36

Week 36… getting closer!

After our ultrasound last week at Akron Children’s hospital, the doctor determined that the fluid level around the heart that we were worried about has decreased, and that he isn’t as concerned as he once was. This was amazing news to hear! Sometimes these issues can resolve themselves, and it looks like our issue has. The doctor said that now we will have to wait until the baby is born to make sure that everything is OK. So we feel good about the situation so far. At the ultrasound, the doctor said the baby’s head was very low, had tons of hair that she could see and that the baby weighs about 5 pounds 4 ounces already!! 🙂

Here is the info. from this week: “Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a Crenshaw melon and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She’s shedding most of the downy hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, your baby will be considered full-term. Most likely she’s in ahead- down position “

Here are our pictures from this week- this baby is definitely growing- A LOT!

Week 35

It has been a while since we have updated. Life has been flying by- in a good way!

We welcomed our new niece, Abigail Marie on March 10th. We got to spend a few days on spring break with her and we loved every minute! It made us more and more excited to meet our little one! We had a little photo shoot while we were in Columbus.

Since the last update we have had to have some extra ultrasounds with the fetal heart specialist Akron Children’s hospital. Our doctor notice some fluid around the heart and wanted us to go to a heart specialist so they could take a closer look. We met with some doctors after they did an ultrasound and they said that we we just need to  keep monitoring the heart. So, we go again tomorrow to see if the fluid has increased or decreased and if we need to take any more measures. We are just saying our prayers that we have a healthy baby.

Since our last update, our baby has been growing and growing!! I am completely expanding and find that I bump into things with my stomach now! I also have a hard time tying my shoes without leaning on something or sitting on the floor ! 🙂

Below are some pictures of our precious Abby and some pictures from this week. Matt had some good fun, making fun of me!! 🙂

Pictures of our baby!

Usually most people only get an ultrasound at the beginning of their pregnancy and then at around 20 weeks for the anatomy scan. We had an extra ultrasound because of some concerns my doctor had with my size, so I thought I would post some pictures so we can compare the development in the last 10 weeks.

Here are a few ultrasound pictures we got at week 20..

Here is a picture of the baby’s face at week 30. You definitely can tell that the skeleton face from the first picture above has now become a chubby baby face!

Week 31

Here are pictures from this week.. finally I am caught up! This baby is definitely growing. Check out the iPad picture- it is off the screen! When we saw the baby at our ultrasound last week, we could see all of his/ her features and it was really neat to see how smushed up the baby is inside of me!

Week 30

At our checkup last doctor’s appointment my midwife was a little concerned because I hadn’t gained any weight since my last appointment (3 weeks ago) and when she measured me, I hadn’t changed either, so she sent us for an ultrasound. She wanted to make sure the the baby was growing OK, and that my fluid was still good. She said it also could be that I was carrying a small baby, or it was positioned differently than last time etc.. So we were hopefully everything was OK, but we were still nervous that something may be wrong. We had to wait a few days for the ultrasound, but when we went there, the tech said that the baby weighed 3 pounds 4 ounces, which was in the 50th percentile, so a very average sized baby for where I am. She also said my fluid looked good, so we were really relived!  She also told us that our baby had a lot of hair! We actually could see it all over the head, so we are expecting a pretty hairy baby! 🙂

This week I am really sticking out, and Matt thinks this has been my biggest growth spurt yet! Matt has started to read to the baby every night, and after a few days, the baby has really been moving around and responding to his voice- it’s very cute!! 🙂

Here are the pics..

Week 29

Catching up…. Weeks have been flying by so I am behind in updating the babies progress.  I had a bad case of laryngitis and a sinus infection that set me back a lot and just wore me out. This baby is really sucking the health out of me!

This week my sister and I had a shower together with our family. It was great to see everyone and celebrate the upcoming arrival of our babies!

Here are some pictures from our shower… ( My sister is due March 19th, so I am 8 weeks behind her!).

Week 27

27 weeks pregnant, and only 13 weeks left!! 🙂 Very exciting for us! Sometimes we can’t believe that we only have 13 weeks left, and other times we feel like 13 weeks is so far away!

Here is what is going on with the baby this week:

“This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like the head of a cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes and perhaps even sucking her fingers . With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don’t bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.”

I have definitely been feeling the thumps and kicks from our baby. Last night the baby got the hiccups and Matt and I were able to feel and even see my stomach moving from them! Fun stuff!

Here are the 27 week pictures:

Week 26

Week 26 came and went and we realized we didn’t take a picture of this week! I did have a picture taken with my sister at my aunt’s 50th birthday party, so I will include that.

The baby is the size of a hothouse English Cucumber, so as you can imagine- I’m getting big!! 🙂

My sister, Jenny is also pregnant and due March 19th, 8 weeks before me!
